Ce qui permet d\u2019\u00e9tablir des cartes marines [et de les mettre \u00e0 jour] mais surtout de garantir la libert\u00e9 d\u2019action de la Marine nationale.\n\nAlors que le projet d\u2019actualisation de la Loi de programmation militaire [LPM] 2024-30 a confirm\u00e9 le programme CHOF [Capacit\u00e9 Hydrographique et Oc\u00e9anique Future], avec la mise en service, \u00e0 l\u2019horizon 2030, de deux b\u00e2timents hydrographiques et oc\u00e9aniques de nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration et de quatre syst\u00e8mes de drones, le SHOM vient de recevoir le Narval, son premier drone sous-marin autonome [AUV] capable d\u2019explorer les fonds marins en \u00e9voluant \u00e0 6 000 m\u00e8tres de profondeur.
