Hyderabad-based aerospace start-up Zenith Unmanned Systems has achieved a major milestone by successfully operating its Vijay-Z1 drone at 14,000 feet for one hour and 18 minutes.
The performance was recorded during high-altitude trials conducted in coordination with the Indian Army’s Eastern Command in the rugged terrain of Arunachal Pradesh.
This achievement sets a new standard for small-class tactical drones flying in low-density air. Operating in mountainous regions presents massive challenges, as the lack of oxygen severely reduces aerodynamic lift and heavily strains drone propulsion systems.
Despite these hurdles, the Vijay-Z1 powered through adverse weather conditions, including thick fog and heavy rain, proving its robust build and engineering quality.
