The fabrication process known as additive manufacturing, is also known as 3D printing, involves building a structure layer by layer using CAD files. The 3D printing technology can also be utilized to produce solid as well as porous structures, which uses the 3D CAD model of the design to be fabricated and develops its physical prototype which utilizes the range of materials for its fabrication such as polymer, metal, ceramics, and composite. 3D printing technology is utilized to create intricate and complex geometry with minimum material wastage and finds application in automotive, aerospace, energy sectors etc.
